WHAT IS AN EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY?

​

Ear aesthetic surgery is a plastic surgery that reshapes the cartilage that supports deformities in the ear, such as prominent ears, certain sprains or deformities that affect hearing or ears with excessively large earlobes.

Operations usually take 2-3 hours and recovery after surgery is between 2-4 weeks.
 

WHO CAN HAVE THE EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY?

This surgery is usually performed on children aged 4-14 years. However, adults can also successfully undergo this surgery.
 

CHILDREN CANDIDATES FOR EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

• The candidate must be in good health, not having a serious illness or a chronic ear infection.

• Ear cartilage must be strong enough to perform the ear surgery.

• The candidate must understand and accept these operation processes.
   

ADULT CANDIDATES FOR EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

• The candidate must be in good health, without any serious illness or certain infections that could hinder the healing process.

• The candidate must not be smoking.

• The candidate must fully understand the importance of ear aesthetic surgery, its positive effect on health status and social life.
   

WHICH TECHNIQUES ARE USED IN EAR AESTHETIC SURGERIES?

 

SURGICAL METHOD

The doctor performs the surgery by making surgical incisions, the size of which is determined by the patient's ear defect.

NON-SURGICAL METHOD

The doctor reshapes the cartilage of the ear and tightens it again using gold threads. He then makes a very small incision behind the ear that allows him to control the cartilage followed by closing the incision.
 

PRE-EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY PROCEDURES

• The necessary laboratory and medical tests should be performed before undergoing the surgery.

• Take the medications prescribed by your doctor to get positive results during and after the surgery.

• Check your current medications with your doctor to make sure they don't cause any adverse effects during and after the surgery.

• Avoid smoking at least 2 weeks before the operation.

• Stop taking medications that cause blood thinning.

HOW IS THE EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY PROCESS?

1. Depending on the patient's condition, the doctor decides on whether a local or general anesthesia will be applied.

2. In order to correct prominent ears, the size of the inner fold of the ear is usually increased, while the cartilage size is reduced to provide a greater concavity of the ear.

3. For other kinds of operations, surgical incisions are usually made in the posterior region of the ear, but sometimes the air must be made in the anterior region to hide it inside the folds inside the ear.

4. The surgical incisions are finalized behind the ear with medical sutures from the outside to prevent any scars.
    

AFTER EAR AESTHETIC SURGERY PROCEDURES

• Take the medications that reduce the risk of infection as recommended by the doctor and follow the necessary ear care instructions.

• Stay at home for at least a week after the surgery.

• Apply the dressings recommended by your doctor to keep the wound clean and protect it from any infection that may occur.

• Stay away from sunlight or bad environmental conditions after ear surgery.

• In case of unusual side effects or complications, contact your doctor immediately.

• Avoid smoking during the period recommended by your doctor.
