WHAT IS AN EYELID AESTHETIC SURGERY?

Eyelid aesthetics is a surgical procedure that tightens the eyelids by removing the sagging skin and accumulated fat from both the lower and upper eyelids and reshaping them in accordance with the appearance of the eyes. 

This process takes about two hours if it involves both the upper and lower eyelids.

This operation has some low-risk side effects such as swelling. The swelling disappears within a week or two. While the results of upper eyelid surgery are permanent for 5-7 years, it is rare for the person to undergo lower eyelid surgery again.

WHO CAN HAVE AN EYELID AESTHETIC SURGERY?

Those who are at least 35 years old and do not have a physical or psychological disease that may prevent surgery can have this operation.

WHICH TECHNIQUE IS USED IN EYELID AESTHETIC SURGERY?

The only technique is the surgical method in which surgical incisions are made on both eyelids with proper surgical instruments.
 

PRE EYELID AESTHETIC SURGERY PROCEDURES

• Take the proper tests recommended by your doctor.

• Please inform your doctor about the medications you are already using before the procedure.

• Take your medications given by the doctor during and after the surgery.

• Avoid smoking for at least one month before the operation.

• Avoid consumption of coffee and stimulants before the operation as they can affect the anesthesia process.

• Avoid using alcohol before the operation.

• Avoid taking any blood-thinning medications before the operation.
   

HOW IS AN EYELID AESTHETIC SURGERY PROCESS?

1. Local or general anesthesia is applied depending on the health condition of the person. This also contributes to enhancing the patient's comfort throughout the procedure.

2. In general, the incision lines are applied when the scars are hidden within the natural lines of the eyelid. For the upper eyelid, the doctor makes a surgical incision in the natural lines of the eyelid, removing excess fat under the skin or tightening the muscles and removing sagging skin. In the lower eyelid, an incision is made below the lower lash line to remove or reposition the fat.

3. The incision is closed with sutures and the sutures are removed after a week.

AFTER-EYELID AESTHETIC SURGERY PROCEDURES

• Apply cold compress to the eyes as directed by your doctor for ten minutes every hour immediately after surgery. The next day, repeat 4-5 times during the day as directed by your doctor.

• Cleanse your eyes with eye drops and ointments recommended by the doctor.

• Avoid stress or difficult activities that may delay the healing process for a week after the operation.

• Do not swim for 2 weeks after the operation.

• Do not do heavy exercise for 2 weeks after the operation.

• Avoid smoking during the period recommended by your doctor.

• Do not use eyepieces for at least two weeks after surgery.

• Try to wear dark colored sunglasses to protect the eyelids from the sun and wind.

• Keep your head upper than your chest while lying down or sleeping for a few days after the surgery.

• Avoid taking blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and herbal supplements for at least a week after surgery to avoid any bleeding.
