WHO CAN HAVE GASTRIC BALLOON?

People with obesity or excessive fat body structure.

People with a fat mass index of 30-35kg

People over the age of 18.

People who had no operations on the stomach and esophagus before.
WHAT ARE THE TECHNIQUES USED IN THE GASTRIC BALLOON?
There are 3 different types of applications that can be applied to the patient who will undergo gastric balloon operation. The doctor chooses which the type to apply according to the patient's condition.

Orbera: It is a kind of balloon filled with saline located right into the stomach.

Reshape: They are two balloons in the procedure look exactly like Orbera

Obalon: Small capsules filled with Nitrogen gas are put into the stomach.
The balloon is left in the stomach for a period of six to nine months. The duration is determined by the weight of the patient.
PRE-GASTRIC BALLOON PROCEDURES

Do not eat or drink anything in the period specified by your doctor.

Stop smoking two weeks before the operation.

Share your health data with your doctor to confirm whether you are suitable for Gastric Balloon operation.

Have the necessary radiographs taken before the Gastric Balloon operation.

Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen and some vitamins for a while (two weeks to one month) before the surgery as they may cause bleeding during the surgery.

Avoid stimulants, green tea, and alcohol.
HOW IS THE GASTRIC BALLOON PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

The fat ratio of the body is checked, the results desired by the patient and the results deemed appropriate by the doctor are determined.

Local anesthesia is applied for the gastric balloon operation.

If the procedure is performed with the Orbera or Reshape method, the doctor locates the gastric balloon through the mouth with the endoscope. If the procedure is performed with the Obalon method, the doctor uses capsules to be swallowed.

After the first stage, these balloons are filled with physiological saline if the Orbera or Reshape method is used. If the Obalon method is preferred, the balloon is filled with nitrogen gas.

Once the placement process is completed, the patients return to their daily life with the gastric balloon depending on the doctor's recommendations. According to the operation technique, the patient checks in with the doctor for the control after 6-9 months and the balloons are removed from the stomach.
AFTER-GASTRIC BALLOON PROCEDURES

Stick to the diet recommended by the doctor.

Drink plenty of water before and after each meal after gastric balloon operation.

Take the medications recommended by the doctor, do not use any other medications.

After the gastric balloon operation, do not lift heavy objects for a while and avoid movements that will force your body.
